Playgroup

Roseworth Child and Parent Centre (CPC) Playgroup sessions are held on Tuesday’s from 9am – 11am. The Playgroup Babies Group sessions are held on Wednesday’s 10am – 11am. These sessions incorporate a combination of structured and unstructured activities, creating spaces for open-ended play alongside other more structured communal activities such as story time, singing, dancing and fruit time.

Roseworth CPC Playgroups create opportunities for carers to connect, participate and interact with their child which assists in strengthening the relationship between the child and their carer. The playgroup provides the children an opportunity to develop creative and manipulative skills, strengthen language development, experience new sensory and tactile activities, assist in the development of hand-eye coordination and encourage problem solving skills.

Throughout the year the playgroup children and families also participate in school-based activities such as Harmony Day, Book Week, Teddy Bears Picnic, Faction Sports Carnival, culminating in an end of year celebration.

As part of Playgroup, a transition to Kindy program is offered. In Terms 3 and 4 on Wednesday’s from 1pm – 2.30pm the children who would be attending Roseworth PS Kindergarten the following year are able to attend the Transition to Kindy program. Benefits of the program are evident in the children’s increased self-confidence and improved relationships with adults and most importantly, their peers. The transition program provides opportunities for the children to be school ready by participating in a broad range of knowledge and skill-based activities that provide the right foundation for future progress.  Roseworth CPC Playgroup caters for children birth to pre-school age who live in the Roseworth catchment area.
