Western Australian Curriculum Implementation
The Western Australian Curriculum sets out what young people should be taught (through the specification of curriculum content from learning areas, general capabilities, and cross curriculum priorities) and an expectation of the quality of their learning (depth of understanding and sophistication of skills described through achievement standards).
Roseworth Primary School is planning and teaching English, Maths, Science and History across the year levels using the Western Australian Curriculum. Focus on the familiarisation and implementation of the remaining subjects of the WA Curriculum will be maintained for all other subject areas until full implementation during 2017 and 2018.
At Roseworth Primary School we have developed a positive approach to student engagement in learning. Our students are motivated and responsive to well-structured and resourced programs with Information Technology playing an important role in everyday classroom teaching.
Data collection, regular teacher collaboration sessions and focused teaching and learning programs, including designated Literacy Blocks and streamed classes ensure that teachers are able to design lessons that meet each child’s needs.
To support the implementation of the Australian Curriculum in Roseworth classrooms the following initiatives are being implemented:
