In 2018 the Roseworth Playgroup saw a total of 65 families participate in a play-based program providing pre-school aged children the opportunity to learn, experience, investigate and interact with the environment.

Roseworth Playgroup incorporated a combination of structured and unstructured activities, creating spaces for open-ended play alongside other more structured communal activities such as story time, singing, dancing and fruit time.

Roseworth Playgroup also created opportunities for carers to connect, participate and interact with their child which assists in strengthening the relationship between the child and their carer. The playgroup provided the children an opportunity to develop creative and manipulative skills, strengthen language development, experience new sensory and tactile activities, assist in the development of hand-eye coordination and encourage problem solving skills.

Throughout the year the playgroup children and families also participated in school based activities such as Harmony Day, Book Week, Teddy Bears Picnic, Faction Sports Carnival; culminating in a Christmas picnic to Kings Park.

As part of playgroup a Transition to Kindy program was offered in terms 3 and 4 to the children who would be attending Roseworth PS Kindergarten the following year. Benefits of the program is evident in the children’s increased self-confidence and improved relationships with adults. The transition program provides opportunities for the children to be school ready by participating in a broad range of knowledge and skill-based activities that provide the right foundation for future progress.  Roseworth Playgroup caters for children birth to pre-school age who live in the Roseworth catchment area.
